Through performance and experimentation. Using the body as a tool and inspiration, often in collaboration with nature.
There is always a concept and several ideas as the starting point but during the creation intuition and play leads the way to which the idea wants to go.
-
As with the other categories, exploring nature and the human body are constant inspirations and themes.
-
Simplicity, slight surrealism, humor, experimentation and subjective beauty.
Re-drawing
lines
2022
This series explores our (dis)connection to our natural surrounding. It delves into the increasing concern for and urgent desire to connect with nature.
In a time of climate crisis it seems as though we don’t see ourselves as part of the ecosystem. As if we see the ecosystem as a thing over there, to go to on weekends and enjoy by walking on clear paths and observing the beautifully curated natural surrounding.
Looking at my surrounding there seems to be a counter reaction to this, an eagerness to reconnect more deeply to nature by immersing more fully through smell, touch and sound. Being a part of nature instead of standing on the sidelines. These images explores this desire to reconnect by consciously taking nature in. Re-drawing our path of relating by placing lines in the face. Playing with the notions of human and (staged) nature. Exploring it. Becoming a part of it. Fully immersing into nature.

Aligning with
nature
2020
These images brings together two of the things that are hard to miss when living in another country for a longer time. One is family, the other is the nature of your home country. Through shape association family and nature is connected. The lines, angles and texture in the moustasche/hair and the lines in nature.
Taken with an analogue large format camera to slow down time in the process.

Up down
tea time
2019
These analogue images were taken during the recording for a video installation. By having these people being upside down, getting increasingly uncomfortable in a place they usually feel very comfortable, their own home. A staged moment that emulates the time right before change. When getting so uncomfortable the only way is to change position.
A performance, a staged moment of endurance. Being in their most comfortable spot in their own home. Forced to be in an uncomfortable position until they can no longer stay but need to move into the upright position again. An attempt to photograph and document the facial expression of: “I can no longer stay like this, my whole position/situation needs to change.”

Objectified
body
2018
Looking at everyday objects from a different view point. Through observations and shape association examining detachment, personification and how we see small everyday objects in our home.

Bodyography
2017
Self portraits following the strict, classical rules of serif fonts to create a body font: Bodyography.
Using the body in not the most comfortable ways to create objects that can express what one wishes to say.
Winter
body
2016
Self portrait in Sweden in -20 degrees.
Exploring vulnerability, surrealism, androgyny and non sexualisation of the female body. Exposing the body to the elements of winter, connecting with nature and removing parts of the body.
