Installation
-
These immersive experiences invites for curiosity and wonderment
It all begins with the concept, the idea. Which can be a feeling, a set of words or an image in my head. In the installations the concept is the main thing and is often open for interpretation.
-
The sculptural elements are made with simple materials: paper, fabric, wood and clay. The material plays an important role and going towards more natural materials act as a juxtaposition with the technology being used.
-
The videos and sounds in the performances are recorded and often altered to fit the idea. Through the combination of spatial (sculptural) elements, video, sound and at times performance.
Combing through
and out
2020
Graduation work. 5,6 m long comb with fingernails, combing water. Exhibited with sound and performance. Made with wood, chicken wire and paper mache. The concept relates to the natural/artificial. To adjusting and controlling our environment to fit our needs. This work shows an attempt to comb out the messy knots to adhere to normal. An estrangement in the connection to out natural surrounding and thereby the self. A certain nonsensical absurdity in the rigidness of the adjustments. A comb is a timeless object that is used by most people. It is an object used to untangle, to make pretty and neat. A comb is also used in language for visual descriptions:
Combing through: searching. Combing out: removing
From the performance that explains my way of working:
“I am an observer attempting to be neutral but only partly succeeding. A creator taking observations, interpreting and translating them into physical visualisations. Highlighting the extraordinary or absurd found in the mundane.
I am the naive optimistic child, constantly asking why about everything.
I am the alien, looking from the outside trying to comprehend civilization and shared human experiences.
I am the AI organizing and categorizing, creating new similarly logically absurd systems and rules.“

Up down
Tea time
2019
The video projection shows a loop of 3 minute videos of these women being upside down while attempting to do an every day activity in their own home. Drinking tea, putting on make up and sitting with their favorite crystal and looking out the window. The theme of this video installation revolves around mental health and how even doing every day activities can be a struggle.
The video’s are performances attempting to describe the moment right before a situation becomes unbearable and changing position becomes inevitable.

Cabbage
brain
2019
A video installation with clay sculptures and animations made with mono prints. Vegetables such as a carrot lettuce, and a cabbage was used in the making of the prints, connecting it to body parts.
The videos were displayed one by one with a soundscape. The project was made with the goal to connect more to the things we eat and pay close attention to them and their shapes.

Paper
leaves
2020
Paper leaves, a playful connection of decor, carton factory and the plants that previously was used to make the cartons (straw). An installation designed for decor for a music festival. It got cancelled due to Corona and the project was never completed. But this is the model that was created.
